The Soap Lake Conservancy http://www.thelake.org/ is a group whose members have worked actively to promote and protect the environment in and around the lake.

The Conservancy has worked with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and has hosted several scholarly conferences for scientists presenting information on environmental and natural resource issues related to the water and geology.

The Conservancy also actively pursued the interest of university scientists who applied for and received a
National Science Foundation Grant to study Soap Lake. http://www.cwu.edu/~relation/pr-july17-02.html

An
article about the research project appeared in the Seattle Post Intelligencer in August 2002. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/81641_soap07.shtml

As of summer 2004, the grant provides the scientists two more years of study.

No small town in rural America could be blessed with a more dedicated and hard working troupe of performing artists. Soap Lake is home to one of the longest running small theaters in the state of Washington. The
Masquers Theater held their first performance in a run down building on Main street, 25 years ago. Today, they hold performances in a brand new theater built with funds donated by patrons of theater arts. It is run by volunteers. http://www.masquers.com

Dr. Sigrid Penrod, a licensed naturopathic physician conducts a clinic every other week in Soap Lake. She can be contacted through her clinic in Bellevue, Washington at (425) 451-0107 for appointments in Bellevue or at her Soap Lake Clinic.
