The Soap Lake Conservancy
http://www.thelake.org/ is
a group whose members have worked actively to promote and protect
the environment in and around the lake.
The Conservancy has worked with the Washington State Department
of Natural Resources and has hosted several scholarly conferences
for scientists presenting information on environmental and natural
resource issues related to the water and geology.
The Conservancy also actively pursued the interest of university
scientists who applied for and received a National
Science Foundation Grant to study Soap Lake.

As of summer 2004, the grant provides the scientists two more years
of study.
No small town in rural America could be blessed with a more dedicated
and hard working troupe of performing artists. Soap Lake is home
to one of the longest running small theaters in the state of Washington.
The Masquers Theater
held their first performance in a run down building on Main street,
25 years ago. Today, they hold performances in a brand new theater
built with funds donated by patrons of theater arts. It is run by

Dr. Sigrid Penrod,
a licensed naturopathic physician conducts a clinic every other
week in Soap Lake. She can be contacted through her clinic in Bellevue,
Washington at (425) 451-0107 for appointments in Bellevue or at
her Soap Lake Clinic. Dr. Penrod will open a new clinic downtown
